A non-local model for the description of twinning in polycrystalline materials in the context of infinitesimal strains: application to a magnesium alloy

A polycrystalline plasticity model, which incorporates the contribution of deformation twinning, is proposed. For this purpose, each material point treated as a composite consisting parent constituent and multiple twin variants. In constitutive equations, volume fractions their spatial gradients are external state variables to account for boundaries free energy. The set relations implemented in spectral solver, allows solving differential equations resulting from equilibrium compatibility conditions. proposed model then used investigate behavior AZ31 magnesium alloy. investigated loading conditions, mechanical controlled by joint basal slip tensile twinning. Also, according numerical results, development crystallographic texture, morphological texture internal stresses consistent with experimental observations literature.
